Finger: the 1971 social network that never died | Andros Fenollosa
Great little blog post that is a good introduction to Finger, for those who might be too young to know about Finger.
Project Gemini
A now well-established protocol for a simple web of documents. I'm very tempted to have a play with this. I'm ever so slightly tempted to see if I can do something with BlogMore, such that I could target this approach in some way too.
What Is Code Review For?
Good post about the point of code reviews, and also about how they're probably more important than ever now.
Nobody Gets Promoted for Simplicity
Hard to ignore or argue with this one (not that I would want to argue with this one).
Better presentations through storytelling and STAR moments
Some useful advice to consider when preparing (and giving) a presentation.
What Actually Makes You Senior
Being in a senior role I find I often run into resistance, especially from product manegers, when it comes to trying to really get to the bottom of some requirement. Sometimes I find myself second-guessing if I should bother.
This article was a good reminder that I should bother.
I’m autistic and don’t speak. Here’s what I want you to know
Interesting insight into being on the spectrum and being non-verbal.
Conflicts at Work
I'm not sure I quite agree with all the content here, but I do like the overall breakdown. Having worked with some very disagreeable people, and having worked with people in a leadership position who could not handle any form of disagreemnt (I should blog my startup experience one day...), this does hit a few points I recognise.
Everything I know about good API design
Interesting article to consider when thinking about what is and isn't a good API design.
My favourite Git commit
I've long disliked the approach some people take of writing one-word git commit messages. While this example might be a wee bit over the top, I'd much rather see this level of care over the craft.
