Even though I use emoji-based prefixes for commits on my personal projects (mostly just for the shits and giggles of it), I detest the "Conventional Commits" thing. I sense this post captures some of why I don't like it.
I didn't know this was a site, and now I'm glad I know this is a site. What got me here was the drama around this particular app. It's got everything: claims of unfair treatment, claims of unfair portrayal of an application, claims of copying by AI, the works. Well worth a read.
Most of what I'm seeing related to "AI" I hate. I'm also fed up with the whole vibe-coding thing and folk who should know better hyping it up. On the other hand I recognise that there's utility to these tools, even (and perhaps especially) as a software developer.
I sense this blog post has some sensible things to say on the subject.

Stop making me justify my paycheck
I don't want a yearly performance review. I don't want to spend two hours filling out a form about my "top accomplishments" like I forgot what I worked on all year. You saw the work. You paid me. That was the agreement.
I also don't want to invent five ways I should magically do more next year for the same money. If I mess up, tell me when it happens. If I'm doing fine, stop asking me to write essays about it.
Let me just enjoy the holidays and leave me be!
I've been thinking recently about AI/LLM-created PRs on GitHub. I've only received a couple, and they've not been great. This has got me wondering if I should entertain them at all from both a software development point of view, and also an ethical point of view.
This blog post is an interesting read for someone else's take on things.
YAML is bad m'kay?
(like, really, it is actually bad).
"The recent innovations in the AI space, most notably those such as GPT-4, obviously have far-reaching implications for society, ranging from the utopian eliminating of drudgery, to the dystopian damage to the livelihood of artists in a capitalist society, to existential threats to humanity itself."
A rant that's pretty much about how money-grabbing idiots are slapping AI on any old shit. We all know who they are.
